September Skin Care
September is coming to an end, and the cold weather continues to creep in, meaning that keeping the skin hydrated is particularly important. Here are some tips for how to help your skin keep up with the transition to the autumn chill:
Getting into a skincare routine can be hard, but what is even more challenging is maintaining it; although it seems obvious, simply keeping the products on constant display is an extremely effective way of being sure to use the products on a regular basis. I choose for my routine to take place every Sunday and Wednesday, however this is sometimes done more frequently if my skin is in extra need of it.
After using a hot sponge on my face, I begin my routine with the Garnier Blackhead Clearing Scrub. Gently apply the scrub to the face in circular motions, especially focusing on the T-Zone. Then going back with the sponge, wash off product. The exfoliating micro-beads work to clear up any imperfections as well as tackling blackheads and leaving the skin feeling exceptionally refreshed. Garnier recommend to use the scrub on a daily basis, however I do not find this necessary for my skin.
Following the scrub, I then apply Eve Taylor's Soothing Cleanser in the scent "Cucumber & Lettuce" to a cotton pad and gently sweep over the face. This cleanser not only deeply hydrates the skin, it also successfully removes any left over makeup that may have been missed.
Finally I reach for the Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask; smoothing gently over the face and neck, this mask can be used either nightly or just when that extra hydration is needed. These three products work perfectly together to maintain a healthy glow to the skin.
Nevertheless, our faces are not the only part of our bodies that need to stay moisturised...Nivea's Pure & Natural hand cream is my absolute go-to cream that I use day and night. This cream works wonders for giving that long-lasting smoothness to the skin.
The Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub is my personal preference for when my lips are in desperate need of exfoliation. I highly recommend this product for removing the dryness, and resulting in outstandingly soft lips. An extra bonus, aside from smelling like it, this pot of joy also leaves your lips tasting like popcorn too.
Every so often it is important to dedicate time to a detox; who said you can't have a spa at home? Champneys Spa Indulgence "Oriental Opulence" collection is my all time favourite for those detox days. The Body Cream, Body Glow, Bath Heaven and Shower Cream work together to give the body a heavily moisturised feel, as well as smelling simply amazing. My personal favourite out of the collection has to be the Body Glow exfoliator which, like the Lush Lip Scrub, leaves the skin feeling as soft as a baby's bottom!
Aside from drinking plenty of water daily, fruit/vegetable based smoothies are another great way to keep the skin looking healthy and vibrant (as well as doing wonders for your insides!). We seem to focus so much attention on testing skin care products time and time again, that we forget what is right in-front of us can be used to our advantage. My skin comes to life most when my diet contains a lot of fruit & veg...that is why smoothies are the perfect way to get a daily fix every morning to give my skin the kick it needs. I use the Breville Blend-Active to create all my smoothies; my personal favourite recipe has to be ALOHA's "Pineapple Punch"* however they have a wide range of recipes and other skin care secrets over on their website.
What are your skin care tips for the seasonal transitions?
